Melike is a computer engineer born and raised in İzmit, Kocaeli. Her interest in technology began in childhood and grew at school. She chose Computer Engineering at Kocaeli University despite having no coding experience; university was her first encounter with programming. Early on, limited skills made group projects hard and dented her confidence, but she persisted, learned fast, and discovered the value of teamwork, communication, and resilience.
After graduation she entered software. A turning point was having a woman as her first manager in a male-dominated field. That example helped her believe in herself and showed that leadership isn’t about gender. Over time, Melike became a mentor too, guiding new software engineers.
Today she works as a software architect: designing system architectures, leading development teams, and supporting colleagues’ growth. Helping newcomers has become part of her purpose.
Melike advocates for more women in tech. She believes women can thrive in mathematics and engineering, often labeled “too hard”; what matters is self-belief and a passion for learning. To keep balance she practices yoga. Her favorite food is pizza, and her motto is: “Everyone has a hidden talent; the important thing is to discover it.”
Her message to girls: "Not knowing how to code today doesn’t define you. With support and determination, every challenge becomes a step toward finding your place in tech."
